The Texas Legislature's JointCommittee of the House and Senate in the Investigation of the Texas State RangerForce was created in January of 1919 and functioned during January and February ofthat year. The purpose of the Committee was to investigate the actions taken by theTexas Ranger Force during the period from 1914 to 1919. The proceedings are of thisJoint Committee, 1919, Volumes I-VIII.

In November 1835, Texas lawmakers created a corps of Texas Rangers to guard the frontier between the Brazos and Trinity Rivers. During the Texas Revolution and republic era, the Rangers were used principally for protection against Native American raids.
